Will My African Grey Parrot Ever Trust Me?

My father bought this wonderful African Grey from a man whose wife died. This bird was in a great home with the wife as his sole trainer. From what I was told, before she past, she would hold and talk to Dusty (the bird). When she died the husband couldn’t have the bird because it reminded him too much of his wife, so my family and I adopted him. We have two other birds in the house, both Blue front amazons, however they are in a separate room from him since he came from a home by himself and these two are real loud and would scare him. We had Dusty for a while now, but he doesn’t trust me. I tried talking to him and getting near him, but he always puffs up and gets mad. I am slowly letting him out of his change to perch next to me. I never push my luck with him by forcing him out or poking him. I open the cage and let him chose to come out while i encourage him. right now he is sitting next to me sleeping because of the music i have on but every time i look at him he opens his eyes and puffs up a little bit. Does anyone know what i can do so i would eventually be able to carry him and hold him. He is a beautiful bird and talks and whistles super cute. I wish i could hold him and take him out side for fresh air.
-Mireha and Dusty.
